verloren devereux BOUND TO DRIVE YOU WILD he'd leave you longing for black velvet and that little boy's smile, black velvet with that slow southern style, a new religion that'll bring ya to your knees, black velvet if you please [/color]
There was, as always, a small smile on the blond boy's face as he sat on the end of a rather neglected, but still perfectly useful, dock. His hair seemed rather unkempt, but perhaps that was due to the wild wind that whipped around him, constantly blowing yellow strands in his face, occasionally even obscuring those beautiful blue eyes. He picked up one of the smooth rocks he had piled next to him and tossed it in his hand a few times, then tossed it, sending it skipping over the surface before it disappeared four skips afterward.
The deep burgundy silk of his shirt shone in the sun and the sleeves, which flair out in a rather feminine sort of appeal, danced around his rather thin arms, as he leaned back again, hands bracing him upright, elbows locked, a few silver bands glinting from his wrists -- three on the right, two on the left, all matching. The billowing of the sleeves was in stark contrast to the somewhat tighter black vest, though it certainly wasn't so tight he couldn't breath, and he had made sure he could move well in it before he had.... liberated it from the store. His black dress pants were rolled up to around his knees as his feet dangled in the water, still warm from the afternoon's sun. His shoes, your average black runners, were off to the side and entirely ignored.
He tipped his head back to stare straight up at the darkening sky, threatening with the onslaught of night, though he rather liked the darker times of the day, particularly when he could see the stars filling up the sky with a spattering of light. With that, he began singing the first song that popped into his head, tipping his head side to side slightly with the silent beat.
It’s been so long since I’ve known right from wrong. Got no job, sometimes I just sit down and sob, Wondering if anything will go right Or will you dance with me tonight?
He softly hummed the tune through the next verse, all the while slowly getting up. He wasn't sure where he was going, but he didn't really care. Then, the tune in his head came to the third verse and he began singing again, eyes closing for a moment, relishing the feel of hte last few rays of sun, but much preferring the chill of the night.
I’m looking at you, you’re looking at me. We’re the only two off the dance floor. Do you see what I see? Two broken lives working in harmony Might make for a decent time, So get up and dance with me
He let the tune fade off, even in his head, eyes opening as he slipped his feet, still rather wet, into his shoes. As he turned to meander back down the dock to the shore, he shoved his thumbs through the belt loops of his pants, seeing as he had no pockets, completely lost in his own world for a moment, his bracelets clinging softly as they bounced against each other. He knew it was okay to let his guard down, at least right now. All he had were those bracelets and his clothes right now, so it wasn't as if anyone could steal anything without it being blatantly obvious to the Prince. Prince of thieves, that is.

Kaycee was walking through the deep sand so deep in thought that its cooling temperature did not even affect her bare feet. Her pink sandals hung from between her fingertips loosely, bouncing along with her relaxed gait. Her short rose-colored shorts didn't exactly match her plain blue hoody but Kaycee didn't mind. She still thought she looked hot as always.
The girl loved wandering the beach at night. The annoying families and old sunbathers all disappeared leaving only their dissolving sandcastles and cutesy couples behind. Though there was even a lack of those this evening as the wind was growing cold.
Though her dark hair whipped around her face in a sporadic way, Kaycee could see through the strands another lone body on the beach. And she could see it was male, immediately catching her interest.
Hello? Wait! She called, racing towards the unknown before the dark enveloped him and she missed him. Though he could have been anyone, Kaycee wasn't afraid. She wasn't scared of anything.

The sound of a voice calling out through the wind was what brought Lore back to the present, and he was instantly aware again, spinning to face the voice, walking backwards for a few steps until he fully took in the appearance of the lovely lady telling him to wait.
In short, it convinced him to stop. Rather easily.
A charming smile, far from predatory, though that was its true intent, flashed on his face as he stood, perfectly relaxed and waiting, ever so patiently. He could give her a few pointers on her fashion, of course, but he wasn't one to go there until the girl knew he wasn't gay -- At least, not solely so.
And hello to you too, angyles.
Of course, as he often did, he threw in a lovely little welsh word. This one, of course, was a little less cryptic than some, meaning 'angel', but still. And perhaps she knew welsh. That, in itself, would be a surprise. However, it wasn't uncommon for him to throw in phrases such as 'angel', 'beautiful', 'handsome' and so forth, in welsh, into his sentences when meeting someone new. It was a habit of his, and he would gladly tell her so if she complained.

Relieved that her soon-to-be company was waiting for her to catch up, Kaycee picked up her relaxed gait to more of a purposeful walk. She reached Lore in no time and smiled innocently, though she had no idea Lore's grin concealed his cruelty like hers did.
What a beautiful word. I hope it means something complimentary, unless you stopped to insult me? Kaycee asked flirtatiously.I'm Kaycee by the way. She added, twirling a dark strand around her finger and flashing a beautiful full-mouth smile.

I do try to make it a habit to not insult anyone, unless they deserve it. Makes for less enemies to watch out for.
He replied easily, know he could keep up whatever lively banter she wanted, if that was indeed what they ended up doing. There was no issue with that. His grin fell into a simple smile, perfect in nearly every way except the right side of his mouth was just ever so slightly higher, something he denied whenever he looked in the mirror, or claimed he did on purpose. That was a lie, but then, half of his life was.
Lore Devereux, and might I say, it is a pleasure to meet you.
With one hand tucked slightly behind his back, the other held in front of him, he dipped his upper body ever so slightly in a bow, though to could almost be missed as such with the fact he hardly bent at the waist at all.

Well you're one of the good guys then. Kaycee purred as her toes squished into the cold sand. She found her cheeks grow hot with a blush at his smile and urged herself to pull herself together. This was a prey/predator situation for her and she would NOT be the one disadvantaged.
You might. She added, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. She was impressed by his bow and compliment and dipped herself into a graceful curtsy accompianed by a playful smile. So Lore... His name dripped off her tongue like honey. What brings you to the beach at night? She asked as they began to walk down the beach.

He spotted the blush, his smile getting rather cocky, though he said nothing. He followed along as she began to continue walking, taking one of his bracelets off and spinning around his fingers like a toy, though he was ever attention to her as well.
Just some alone time. Though, I wouldn't mind a bit of company.
He replied, glancing over at her, hinting that she was, in this case, who he meant by 'company'. He grabbed the bracelet as it fell again, and used it similar to a finger to point at her.
And you?

Kaycee folded her hands behind her back and listened. She was good at that sometimes - it was an easy way to get information. But though Lore wasn't saying much, she was finding herself enjoying the peaceful conversation. Not to mention, his obvious hints had been acknowledged by her slight and genuine smile. Not many people saw that one.
I... like the beach. She hesitated but continued. There is no keys to unlock this place. Its just there. And I don't think people admire it as much as they should. So I like to think I make up for those slackers. This was personal to Kaycee and she had almost also given away her powers in a single sentence. She blinked hard to clear the fog of what this was. Just because she wasn't on a mission didn't mean she needed to be off guard. And as she looked away from Lore's eyes to the sand below her, she couldn't help feeling a little resentment for who she was. If only she could be like everyone else who could walk on the beach without being constantly on guard for danger. What she would give for an oppurtunity like that.

He instantly noticed the hesitation. It was a friend of his when it came to certain topics, and so he knew to leave well enough alone. It wasn't like they really knew each other or anything. If they had, he might have gently pressed the issue, but he wasn't one to try and force secrets out, not unless he knew they pertained to his freedom and well being.
Some of us just don't admire things easily.
He replied, noticing as she looked away and letting her. Again, why should he bother? Perhaps it was her attitude. Perhaps she was avoiding something. In the end, it wasn't his business.

Do you? Kaycee asked suddenly, stopping in front of him, daring him to keep walking. This wasn't right- she shouldn't be drifting away the night with some stranger. A stranger who now knew her name and seemed very mysterious- and into her. A stranger she was starting to feel for. A small part of her she usually stifled screamed to do something impulsive; to be a regular girl and just let him romanticize her. And though he was agreeing with everything she said, there was no information for that part of herself. She desperately needed to know if they could connect on the single level of nature's beauty. If so, maybe she could indulge in a little romance just once. And if not, then this was really all just a game, she could go home and focus on taking care of the mess she had left behind with him by letting a little of herself go.
-Sorry if this confuses you... I was on a trail of thinking and when I look back, I'm not sure if it is totally follow-able *blush*-

That....depends, really. When it comes to nature, I tend to take it for granted. I grew up in Wales, near the coastline, and, although the immediate vicinity wasn't necessarily great, there was this beautiful little area, just outside the city. Years and years of that, and I don't really... appreciate it like I used to. But, other things are admirable too. Finely crafted jewelry for example.
He explained, finally holding the bracelet he'd been tossing still, and examining it. It was flawless, although simple. He held it out to show it to her, stopping when she did, but hardly noticing he'd done so.

Kaycee understood what he was saying and found herself nodding along as he spoke. Not to mention, if his story was true, then she finally knew something about Lore besides his name. This gave Kaycee a sense of ease and she leaned over to admire the bracelet. It really was beautiful.
Who are you? She breathed quietly, then looked up at Lore with alarmed eyes when she realized that she had spoken aloud. She hoped he would not react badly or catch on to her somewhat innocent act. Or perhaps it had become less of an act as time had passed. Kaycee wasn't sure anymore.

He watched as she admired it, and smiled, reaching over and grabbing her hand, slipping the bracelet onto her wrist, letting go afterward, mostly out of surprise to what she had said. It had caught him off guard. He recovered quickly, though and simply smiled at her.
Just a man, Lady Kaycee. Just a man.
He replied, smile turning into a grin as it so often did. It was rather different, this conversation, but that was fine. Different wasn't always bad. Sometimes, in fact, it was wonderful. He pointed to the bracelet now on her wrist.
Keep that. I've get more than enough.

Kaycee flinched at the touch of someone else. Most people tended to keep away from her, this was of course entirely her choice. Normally, she didn't like people near her except for Jace occasionaly. But shakingly, she stretched out her wrist and allowed him to place the bracelet on it. And as he suggested she keep it, Kaycee felt a slight blush appear on her normally pale cheeks. She touched the beautiful jewelery delicately, admiring its beauty.
But then he said something else and Kaycee, who had just about to start their walk again, looked him directly in the eyes, the spell of the bracelet broken. I don't think you are. She said stubbornly. I don't think you're "just" a man. I think you are more. Don't deny it for my benefit Lore. Don't degrade me that way.

Even a mutant is just a person. A more advanced person, sure. But a person nonetheless.
He replied, hoping desperately that was what she had meant. If it wasn't, he'd just blown cover. Not that he was particularly careful about such things on a regular basis but he hated to openly admit it as he just had. He smiled faintly at her before recovery from his rather temporary, fleeting concern. He moved on, returning to his previously confident state of mind.
However, no matter what you think, I have not used my power yet. I'm just naturally this charming.
