personality;; Desirae is very obedient by nature. She knows right from wrong, and she obeys others quite well, so long as they're older. She's perfect until you put her in a room with her peers. Peers simply don't require the respect that adults do. When she's put in a comfortable situation with her peers, she becomes the happy, confident girl. Maybe it's fair to say Desirae's a bit shy if anything. One great flaw to her is that it's nearly impossible to earn her trust back if you lose it.
Desirae isn't often the one to initiate conversations, but she will answer you if you talk to her- if she didn't, that'd be rude. She's so wrapped up in her own world, her own goals and plans that she rarely takes interest in anything extra. To avoid being nagged at or eventually sent home, she does her work as quickly and efficiently as she can manage. Desirae is also very organized. She prefers to plan things out and think things through. If she knows before-hand what she plans to do in the day, it gets done. Desirae constantly makes goals and plans to get through the days, all the while working toward bigger and better things for herself. Ambition was not lost on her.
Desirae can often be found daydreaming during lulls in activity- especially in school. She is kind at heart. If you tick her off, she can be very cold toward you. She's also very apprehensive about relationships with guys. If you talk to her and she's not immediately frightened by you, you might have a chance to convince her that you're not what she perceives all guys to be- pure evil.
Desirae is very against 'evil' in general, despite her own curiosity toward it. She has no idea that her mom supported an evil cause. One of her goals is to learn to control her powers and to save her mom- wherever she is.
history;; Desirae was born to a woman in custody of higher authority. Desirae's mother was a mutant as her daughter. The difference was her mother was a rebellious, powerful mutant while Desirae was fairly submissive to any stronger power or personality.
Desirae was whisked away to a safer environment when her brother was captured. She was placed under the care of parents who also got her younger brother, Zachary, when Desirae's mother was recaptured after her escape. Desirae had been nearly ten then, and Zach was a little over a year. Desirae adored Zach- he was her /favorite/ person in the house, even though she loved the woman and man she knew to be her parents.
Dessy felt a particular love for her brother- he was the only sibling she had, biologically or otherwise. She rather would have preferred him to be her older brother, and to be there to take care of her instead of the other way around. . .Desirae got over that wish quickly. It became more like a nagging thought in the back of her mind.
Desirae's adoptive mother was a kind lady, but a bit obnoxious and prone to talking behind people's backs. Desirae didn't really click with her on a normal basis.
Desirae's father was a drunk- he drank to try to forget her mother who separated with him to pursue a life of crime. He was a very good man who did not want to kill people or hurt people no matter what. He tried to forget her. . .He had dreams before Desirae's mother had come into his life. Big dreams, big plans. And his life was perfect- raising his daughter, she turned out to be just like him. That had been a crowning time in his life, to see her grow up. . . He never suspected that his first wife would be back for his daughter, his pride, his joy. Yet, there she came, unknown to himself and his current wife.
One October night, Zach's third birthday to be exact, the children got their first meeting with their mother. She was a tired looking woman who had a devious glint to her eyes, and who fidgeted constantly. She was also a teleporter and a telepathy held in high regard by most who knew of her. She talked with them briefly, telling them about the latest mission she'd been on. To the children, she was a scary monster. Zach wouldn't move from behind Desirae no matter how much their mother insisted. And Desirae herself was much too shocked to do much but nod in understanding to her mother's hateful words. Apparently she had quite a few enemies. . . The night ended with a sigh of boredom, and a sudden poof sound before she was gone as quickly as she'd came.
Life went back to normal, and the next time they saw her was three weeks later. She came bearing gifts this time- a very unique necklace for Desirae, and a wooden train for Zach. Both stolen, even if she didn't flaunt that to the kids. This time the visits were much more frequent- in a typical week there'd be three or four visits, but occassionally only one or two toward the end of the week, and when these came around she was typically snappy and suspicious.Neither of the children told their foster parents, and it continued until Desirae and Zachery were, in essence, kidnapped from their home and taking them to reside where many mutants went; the home of the Xavier Institute and the Archangel Corporation. It was while here that her mother confided in Desirae that she'd been placed with the family she had because biologically, the man was her father. This information shocked her. Zachary wasn't her brother? She didn't want to accept it. At the same time, she saw similarities between her father and her. Many, many more then anyone else shared in the family.
Desirae's mother aspired to be part of the Archangel's cause. She would have, too, despite her adult age- she'd been about thirty five-, had she not been apprehended again and locked up for good. In time she'd be killed if she tried to run again, otherwise she'd be held and tortured for her abilities.
Even though Desirae's mother hated people, had enemies, and admitted to being imprisoned often, Desirae convinced herself that her mother was trying to turn over a new leaf. She was wrong- her mother was already getting in connection with the Archangels. Desirae joined the ranks of the X-Men under false assumptions, while her brother was found and returned by police to their foster parents. Desirae almost had to leave herself. Fortunately for her, what people didn't see couldn't be taken into custody. Zach cried, and begged that she come back for him. Desirae had decided at that moment that she would- she would return for Zachary someday when she could take him legally. Two years had never quite seemed so distant as it did then..
