Desirae had few worries now. Though it had seemed scary to be a mother, now that her young son was here, she knew she could take it. He was so small, so fragile, but she was powerful enough to keep him healthy. When he got older, maybe not as easily. She'd cross that bridge when she came to it, though. For now she held his swaddled body against herself, humming softly as he fussed. She was convinced he was fussing out of boredom since she'd offered him milk and checked his diaper.
Boredom, that was, or sleepiness. She couldn't be certain. Either way, the remedy was the same- to walk him around, rocking him lightly, and holding him close. The humming was her way of soothing him, and of assuring him that she was there for him. Before he'd begun fussing, Desi had gotten herself a glass of water which was now still full and sitting on the nearest counter. All things considered, it was still a good day, though it was nearing noon and she hadn't eaten yet, hence her presence in the institute's kitchen.

Sparrow yawned as he entered the kitchen. He had slipped out of bed at 5am to check up on the warehouse district with a patrol group and discovered a few Archangels lackeys lazing around. After six hours of spying, he had finally gotten home and was starving.
He rubbed his face with dirty hands and opened his eyes to see his beautiful fiancee standing there with a tiny bundle tucked against her. He could hear soft cooing from his son so he wasn't hesitant to greet Desirae.
Hello beautiful, he said, already more awake. He crossed the kitchen easily and took one of her hands in his. His other palm he used to gently touch his baby's head and smooth back the little blonde hair that was already there. Hey Xander-boy. Keeping mommy up all night, rascal? He asked playfully before leaning in to kiss Desirae. How are you Des? Sleeping ok? He can sleep in my room soon if you like. Just so you can get some rest. Sparrow offered, with a smile.

"Hey,"Desirae greeted, immediately smiling as she turned her gaze toward Sparrow. It was so good to see him, though she could see he was tired. Since she'd had Xander, it seemed they were both tired most of the time- not that they didn't share the responsibility. If it wasn't Xander, it was something related to the missions Sparrow went on, or to Desi insisting on spending her time in the medical wing rather than sleeping. Even when Sparrow was taking over, Desirae found herself unable to sleep as easily as she had before Xander's birth. She couldn't explain it, though.
Desirae was amused by Sparrow's playful comment, and relieved by the kiss. Everything seemed okay with the acts of affection provided by Sparrow.
"I'm fine. I slept well,"Desirae answered softly, smiling at his offer,"He was very good. But thank you, Love. I think you need a nap, though. Did everything go okay?" Desirae didn't like to ask about what Sparrow was doing. As long as he was okay, as were those he was with, Desi would be content. She didn't want Sparrow to feel like he had to tell her anything he shouldn't, because really, Desi did not need to know as long as he came home safe. She was curious, but not enough to want Sparrow to reveal more than he should. Besides, Desi admired Sparrow for what he did. He was her hero for countless reasons.

Sparrow tiredly hopped on to a counter and leaned against the cupboards. He barely had the energy to do that these days.
That's good, he answered Desirae, glad she was content. Maybe a nap would be a good idea. And kind of, I guess. He hesitated and tapped his fingers on his leg. After a few minutes of pondering, he spoke. The Archangels are getting bolder. Walking around like they own the place. The other warriors are getting worried and its rubbing off on me. I swear they have got something planned. He passed a hand over his face tiredly and groaned. The Archangels made him so frustrated and exhausted at the same time. His emotions were all over the place recently and he tried to hide it so as not to burden Desirae.

If only Desi's power could cure sleepiness. Alas, it couldn't, though it was entirely possible for her to temporarily make the 'symptoms' of his exhaustion disappear. Desi didn't make it a habit to do so, though, because there were worse things than being tired, no matter how much she loved Sparrow or how badly she wanted to see him comfortable. At any rate, she listened attentively to his explanation.
"If they really are planning something, I'm sure you guys can handle it. There's no need to worry, Sparrow."Desirae offered reassuringly. Unfortunately, her image of the Archangels was, essentially, people much like Sinclair (who she still hadn't forgiven for the incident at the cliffs) who were overly confident, but essentially harmless all the same. Despite stories she heard, only a few seemed that bad to her, so the world still seemed safe. That was probably due in large part to Sparrow who seemed capable of protecting her from everything and anything that came her way.
"Are you hungry? I was just going to make something to eat. I can make you something, too,"Desirae offered, mostly because Sparrow looked too tired to manage it himself.

Sparrow only allowed a tiny smile to form at the corner of his mouth. If only Desirae was right. Maybe. But they're pretty powerful. And I'll have whatever you're having Des. He complied. Thanks. You're way too good to me.
Suddenly, Sparrow pinched his eyes closed and focused hard. His stupid power was activating again. When his emotions got out of balance, he tended to shift randomly and had to concentrate to stop himself. Sparrow sighed inwardly. He knew instantly Desirae would pick up on the symptoms and hoped she wouldn't worry.

Desirae smiled in return. She didn't mind, anyway. But before she had moved away from Sparrow to retrieve ingredients for their meal, her attention shifted to him, watching quietly for a moment. While Sparrow thought his power was stupid, Desirae liked it. She didn't like the idea of mice, and she still wouldn't tolerate that particular creature whether it was obviously Sparrow or not, but anything else he transformed into was fine by her. Even the tiger, when he'd done it out of anger, Desirae wasn't scared for herself. She trusted Sparrow, and his transformations seemed harmless enough, whether he liked them or not and whether Xander was in her arms or not.
"Sparrow, love,"Desirae murmured softly. The bigger issue was why he was transforming. She wanted to address that, to take care of her fiance if at all possible before she worried about anything else.

Sparrow blinked a couple of times and focused on Desirae's calm but concerned voice. His body stopped shaking and he breathed a sigh of relief.
I'm good love, I'm good. He murmured and jumped off the counter, testing his feet on the ground. Perfect. Has Xander shown any signs of being a mutant yet? He asked suddenly as the thought went through his mind. Sparrow wasn't sure what he would think if that happened.
