There was supposed to be more pain. They kept telling her it was so, and reassuring her that if she felt pain, she could tell them. She didn't need to be brave, or so they tried to convince her. But, despite the tearful first hour of contractions, Desirae was feeling as calm as ever, thanks to the needle injection into her spine combined with her powers. In fact, everything below the injection point- which was at her waist- was numb which helped tremendously with the labor pains. Yes, she was going to have a very hard time walking anywhere anytime soon considering the fact that she couldn't feel her legs at all, but she wasn't worried about that now.
Nearby the nurses were fussing over the newly delivered baby, checking it's APGAR- Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration. They took the APGAR assessment right after the birth- which was why Desi only got to see the baby only for a second before they pulled him away. They then cleaned him up, poked his foot, and a whole manner of other things, before finally deciding that they could hand him back- now he looked soft and cuddly, swaddled in a little blanket with a light blue knitted hat on. Much, much better than when he'd just come out of her, truthfully.
"You've got a beautiful baby,"a nurse stated as she set the baby on Desi's stomach. Desi lifted her hand, then gently drew her fingers along the top of the baby's head. It was, as she expected, very soft.
"Thank you," Desi replied, smiling at the small baby. Then she looked up, her eyes searching for Sparrow who she assumed would be close. Meanwhile the other nurse was telling the one that had spoken to Desi that the baby's APGAR score was acceptable- that was to say, there were no immediate causes for alarm just yet.
"He's finally here, Sparrow,"Desi stated softly, her tone a bit sleepy. Obviously Sparrow knew, but in a way, it was just Desi letting her excitement show through.
{I'm sixty percent sure it's a boy. . . But I can change it if I'm mistaken. I need to document these things, dang it. Epic memory failure right there.
And, furthermore, I spent all day yesterday watching "I'm 16 and I'm Pregnant" because a girl in my school got pregnant and it's huuge news. So it kinda helped me pull the post together/figure out what I needed to say and what I didn't. But this was a harder post than I'm used to, I have to admit. Hopefully it's alright ^_^}
