Ally was lying sprawled across Sinclair's legs. It was just the way they landed when she ran into him, and she hadn't had time to get off him yet. Now that she had run into him, she could finally assess the situation. That was the curse of super speed, you did a lot of stuff without thinking about it until it was too late.
Oh... Was all she had to say. He had witnessed it himself. She had used her gift. Well how was I supposed to know? It wouldn't be the first time! Was the best she could come up with. She didn't want to admit to being a mutant until she knew what he would do with this knowledge.
Paige slid out of the booth quietly and stuck her hand out, first to help Ally up, who then proceeded to sit back down in her seat. Then she stuck her hand out again to help Sinclair up.

Sinclair didn't really mind that she'd fallen on him. It was an odd position indeed, but it wasn't so bad. Besides, physical contact was rarely a bad thing by Sinclair's account.
Sinclair opted out of saying anything to make it worse. He'd gotten what he wanted, he wasn't going to torture the girl with anything more. She was a mutant, like he thought, there was no need to make fun of her or anything like that.
Sinclair's look was one that told of how curious Paige's action made him. He had just pretended to attack her and she was helping him up? Well, okay. . . Though there was something wrong with a guy taking a girl's hand instead of getting up himself in Sinclair's mind, he didn't want to be rude so he took the offered hand and got to his feet before brushing himself off a bit as he offered a thank you to Paige. Though the place looked clean enough to the average customer, he wasn't taking his chances.
"So what about you? Will I have to do something stupid to find out if you're one, too?"Sinclair questioned, his voice sounding genuine, as if he truly wanted to know. And he did.

Paige waited patiently while Sinclair accepted her hand and she helped him up. However in the time frame it took for him to take it and get back on his feet, Storm threw a tantrum.
WHAT?! WHY are you helping HIM up?!?! He just tried to attack us! We really should be kicking his ass into another dimension!!! Sinclair was now on his feet. He deserves it! Was Storm's final statement.
Without thinking, Paige shot her hand out and slapped Sinclair across the face. However, as soon as she did so, her eyes grew to the size of golf balls, and her jaw dropped in shock. Oh my God! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to do that! Now look what you've done!!
Ally had about the same reaction as Paige when she watched her friend slap Sinclair. He had deserved it, but she knew that it hadn't really been Paige doing that, it was Storm... of course that's not something you can explain (at least easily) to a complete stranger.

Sinclair didn't seem alarmed, surprisingly enough. It hurt like hell, and he was sure there was going to be a red mark, but he hardly flinched when she did it. And yet his green eyes came alive like a sudden, blazing fire. He wasn't usually one to get mad, but he also wasn't one that liked people touching him or getting away with things like this. Yeah, he did deserve it, but he wasn't giving her the satisfaction of seeing him react. It almost took more effort not to say ow than to deal with the sudden pain. Really, though, he hadn't touched either of them and they'd both managed to physically harm him. Maybe the difference was that he could really hurt them with a touch.
"Now that that's settled,"he mumbled casually- mumbling of course mostly because suddenly, talking was a bit more painful than before. As he spoke there was a subtle edge to his voice underneath the first tone. "Let's establish the no-touching-Sinclair rule right now. From this moment on. I won't touch you again and you guys can do the same." It wasn't a question. If they touched him again, he wouldn't be as nice. His patience only extended so far, and it'd already went far enough.

Paige took a step back and sat back down in her seat. Yah that sounds good. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to slap you. My hand just kind of slipped....
To everyone else it sounded like a lame excuse but it was true. She had lost focus for about one second, and Storm reacted that way. She couldn't explain it unless she had a lot of time and the person she was talking to had a very open mind. Like Ally, who also happened to be her best friend. She was the only one who understood the struggle she went though every day.
I'm sorry. She said again.
Oh stop apologizing already. You sound like a broken record. He deserved it. Well... not quite.... we should have done worse... like kick him in the b- Okay, you shut up! Right now. You're so annoying. I can't think straight when you're constantly talking. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have all this apologizing to do!
Ally let her eyes flicker between Paige and Sinclair, not really sure if she should intervene or not.

Sinclair shrugged. Really, what was he supposed to do? He couldn't erase what she'd done, and it really wasn't that dramatic, so he decided the easiest thing would be to let it go.
"Don't worry about it, I shouldn't have messed with you in the first place."Sinclair replied. Though his mind quickly added,'though you shouldn't have refused to tell me what I wanted to know.'. Oh well. He'd just ignore it and move on. His way of doing that was to ask a casual, yet significant question. He directed his gaze away from Paige and to Ally.
"So, Xavier's?"Sinclair questioned. He didn't bother to add 'do you go to' because Xavier's seemed to sum up the question just fine in his mind. After all, what else could he be asking about? He wasn't about to elaborate unless they asked so he didn't give it a second thought.

Well no, actually. Ally said, directing her gaze to Paige. She pointed to her friend sitting across the booth. I'm waiting for her to agree to move in. Until then, we're just kind of chilling at home.
Paige shook her head. Don't say "until then." It's not like we're definitely going to move in. We're just checking the place out.
Ally shrugged. Well whatever you say. She turned back to sinclair. You're pretty chill about this... You a mutant too?

"I see,"Sinclair agreed passively. It made him sort of happy, in an odd way, that they weren't affiliated with the X-Men, but he had a feeling that Ally would get her way. Of course he could be wrong, but he doubted it. At any rate, he wasn't a huge fan of the Xavier Institute to begin with.
"Mhhm,"Sinclair agreed to her question,"Something like that." Sinclair had no intention of telling her what he could do, but she did offer him a valuable piece of information- Paige had powers, too. If she was going to Xavier's, she had powers.
"Honestly now, what is it you do?"Sinclair asked as he looked to Paige curiously. "It has to be something interesting, no?"

Paige tilted her head to the side and shrugged. Well you don't seem to be volunteering much information. Why should I tell you what I can or can't do? For once Storm seemed impressed with Paige. Clever girl.
It wasn't like telling another mutant what her powers were. It was easy enough. Control weather and natural disasters. However usually the other mutant was more cooperative and would tell her their powers too. But if he wasn't going to say, then she didn't want to either.
Ally was slightly annoyed. She loved her power and everything and she enjoyed using every opportunity to use her gift, but she was mad she had used it and Sinclair knew what her's was. She didn't have the leverage Paige had.

"Nice try. I don't care that much and it's not worth getting hurt over."Sinclair shrugged casually. "So if you don't want me to know, whatever. It's only fair. Besides, I can't divulge such secrets to potential X-Men, even if I wanted to." Especially since he had plans of joining the Archangels. He'd rather be a mystery to them.
"If you change your mind and do have the random urge to tell me, that's cool, too."Sinclair added, though he said this more as a joke. It didn't have to be funny, he doubted she'd tell him, and yet he was hopeful and unwilling to admit just how much he wanted to know. After all, Paige seemed to be the quieter more unknown person of the two, she would have been the harder of the two for him to trick her power out of her as he'd done with Ally.
"But I do have to know, can you read minds?"Sinclair questioned as he looked into Paige's eyes. If she broke eye contact with him, he'd definitely be upset. Otherwise, he should be able to tell if she was lying or not using his own power. Reading minds was the one he was paranoid about.

Paige shrugged again. Maybe I can, maybe I can't. Who knows? Can you read minds? Is that why you're always staring so intently at us? She asked, staring right at him. Although if he tried reading her mind, he would already know what her powers were... or at the very least that she was crazy that she had a second, somewhat mysterious (at least to a stranger) voice in her head.

Sinclair grinned and shook his head after she answered him and asked the question.
"No, just habit. Besides, aren't you supposed to look at people when you speak to them? The way I see it, I'm just more polite than most people. Surely that isn't a crime. And if I could read minds I wouldn't have much reason to ask you questions- except to bring the answer to your mind, of course."Sinclair's grin turned mischievous. Maybe he could trick her into telling him by convincing her that he had a power he didn't- namely reading minds. If he denied it, but hinted at it, maybe she'd tell him her power if he confirmed his. Or maybe it was a lot of work for nothing. Really, he wasn't going to do that, but it was tempting all the same. It seemed like a valid idea.

Paige shook her head. Yes you're supposed to look at people when they talk, but not so intently. And you're also staring very hard when we're not talking.
This was about the only time when Storm came in handy. It was when she got caught in situations like this, she could work with two minds instead of one. And the best part? The person she was dealing with didn't know there were two brains on the job.
Anyways, I was merely making an observation. She said as though it was no big deal.

"Ah, alright, alright, you caught me. I can't hide it, I'm just fascinated by you two."Sinclair stated with a shrug and a smirk, knowing perfectly well that he was lying. He didn't want them to know the truth, he'd rather them think he were some weird kid or something."I mean, of course pretty girls catch my attention. Especially when they give me compliments to boost my ego."
Sinclair did actually look away from the girls so that he could watch someone walk into the diner. He waved at Sin, to which Sin nodded his acknowledgment, then the boy disappeared into the kitchen. The arrival of the familiar boy meant that Sinclair's shift was over. In fact, if it hadn't been so fast approaching and the diner hadn't been so slow he probably wouldn't have talked to them as long as he had. Once he was satisfied, he looked back to the girls without offering an explanation.

When he spoke about how fascinated he was by them, Paige could hear Storm growling. I sense sarcasm... Me too. If only he knew about me... then we'd give him something to be fascinated with! No Storm. She heard a dramatic sigh and Storm go off and sulk in the corner of her mind.
Yah, sure whatever. You can be fascinated all you want, but I'm not telling you anything. Paige spoke firmly, and when she finished, she had an innocent and sweet smile on her face. The kind she wore everyday, except in this situation, it almost seemed to be taunting him.
Being quiet for this long was a amazing if you knew Ally at all, but now she spoke. Well, rather she laughed. Like we'd compliment you. She couldn't help it. It just sort of slipped out.
