Nick shrugged, and gently pulled Lily to his side so that they could continue walking down the path. He was starting to get restless with just standing in one spot. Well if it keeps him from complaining and he has time to work on building up his strength, we might some day manage to recruit as a full time Archangel. He has a rather extrordinairy gift.
Oh yah. She had said something about Dark Angel's trust. Dark Angel likes to think he can trust anyone who follows him. It's more of a matter of who he finds responsible and can demand respect that he likes to keep close by. And not to mention he likes to keep those strongest closest. Nick decided to leave it at that unless Lily asked.
There had been a time when Nick had been in close contact with a telepath and he had caught a glimpse of Dark Angel's mind. He feared the day Nick might get bored, turn around and betray him. Dark Angel knew Nick had the power to do so if he chose, but at the same time he knows Nick would never do it. Nick respected Dark Angel, and the thought of disobeying Dark Angel was absolutely ridiculous. Though Nick kept this to himself. He was still reeling in surprise over the meer idea.
He shook this thought away and focused back on the present. The present being Lily. He squeezed her hand a little tighter, not to hurt her, but in an affectionate way. And what have you been doing?

Lily didn't even resist when Nick gently moved her and they began their slow gait down the path. She merely tilted her head up at him and listened as he spoke, nodding along to the words. He does, doesn't he? She said conversationaly. He seems rather broken though. I suppose that is the Corporation's fault but maybe he will have to gain some self-confidence before he becomes an Archangel? Lily threw her idea out there thoughtfully.
Liliana rested her head on Nick's shoulder for a very brief moment. I am proud of you for that. I hope you know that, even if you won't admit it? She said when he spoke of holding the Dark Angel's trust confidently.
His hand was warm in hers and the quick squeeze made Lily's heart flutter suddenly. Me? I'm boring. She said with a joking smile. Seriously, um, well, I have been working on that online college course? Remember that one? So, that homework is kind of filling. Other than that, I drive around and do errands for the other Archangels. They overheard me offering to help one day and now ask me to all the time. Lily laughed it off and shrugged. She didn't care if the others needed her help. At least it gave her something to do.

Nick shrugged. The whole broken thing wasn't something he or anyone else could fix, and it wouldn't happen over night either. Give him a week or two. Once he's healed and gets used to his new position, he'll appear a whole new person. Time. Everything took time and everyone knew that it was the one thing Nick never had time for because half the time the Corporation or Dark Angel needed things to happen or be done right away.
He was brought of his thoughts of annoyance on time by Lily's voice speaking about proud she was of him. He gave no verbal response to her but squeezed her hand again. The other hand which wasn't hold hers, he stuffed into his pocket.
When she reponded to what she had been up to the past few weeks, Nick listened intently. He was always interested in hearing what she was up to. Yes, I remember you saying you would be taking some online classes... He trailed off. What was she taking again? He closed his eyes trying to remember, but for the life of him her couldn't, and he had too much respect for Lily to go diving around her brain for the answer, and of course he would never ask. Unless she picked up on his faltering, then he wouldn't ever know.
Driving everyone around everywhere? That sounds exactly like something you would do. He sounded a bit teasing when he said it.

Liliana couldn't help but picture Taki's scarred face in her mind as Nick brushed him off casually. She had always kept her opinions of the Corporation's tactics to herself, and this was no exception. She decided not to say anything in response and hoped Nick was right about Taki.
His quick squeeze of her hand brought her back to reality and Lily looked at him shyly before looking away. But seeing how he was interested in her seemingly boring life, she gave him a bit more information. Well, you know I love nature. So I've been taking some ecology courses and thought maybe it would give me something other to do than hang around the Corporation all day. Turns out it was online anyway but you know, she gave a short laugh at the irony. Maybe I'll get a job someday with it in some way or another. I guess we'll have to see. She shrugged but with a smile.
Then to his teasing voice, she gave him a joking punch on the shoulder with her free hand. Well unlike my boyfriend, I don't have a whole bunch of responsibilities there so I need to do something. At least driving keeps me busy although it is one thing after another. I'm not sure I'm good at turning people down though, so I'll probably just die helping a little old lady cross the street someday thanks to my oh-so-giving nature. She kidded with Nick, the wind whipping her hair naturally around her pale face.

Liliana continued to ramble. Lily, sh! Stop talking before you make a fool of yourself. He never used her nickname, he was the one person who always called her by her real name 'Liliana'. Though what he said could be taken as rude, if anyone knew him well enough, such as Lily, she would know he was just teasing her.
Now that he had managed to silence her, he could reply to what she was saying. I do know how much you love the outdoors, I'm glad that you are enjoying the courses you're taking. And about the ride.... He knew she didn't like being ordered around and he felt awkward about telling her what to do, but he decided to just say it anyways as a general statement. Well don't be afraid of putting you're foot down now and then. I don't want anyone to walk over you.... but I know you're more then capable of taking care of things yourself if anything should irk you.
She whipped her hair around, the way he maybe not so secretly enjoyed, and closed his eyes as he felt the brief rush of wind it caused as it moved, quietly inhaled, loving her scent that he always recognized anytime he entered any room she occupied. The moment passed and her hair settled. He opened his eyes and slowly reached forward, running his fingers through the tips of his finger and bringing it forward, slowly caressing her silky hair. He was doing it absent mindedly, so he wasnt aware of the blank look on his face. She could do much better then me.
