Appearance; 5’ 6”, He dies his hair from its natural red-brown color to a dark blue and black combo a lot, but his hair grows unnaturally fast, so it usually goes back. Very pail completion. Marlin also appears to be about 16 because of how his abilities and how they have manifested in his aging.

Personality; Marlin is a classic introvert, he keeps to himself, and rarely puts any effort into socializing. Because of his isolation he has very limited social skills, and is very awkward in many situations. This is also coupled with his negative outlook and almost depressing state of mind makes him less than desirable to “hang” with, and he has learnt this and feels that he doesn’t need or deserve anyone to “hang” with. The only things he finds joy in is animals, he is deeply attached to them, but is always worried that he will harm them, so he isolates himself further, except from his pet ferret Gandhi. He thinks and acts the age he looks (16) though he does have 35 years of experience and knowledge that he chooses to bring out if needed. The fact that he is older than he appears he keeps to himself, and because no one has ever asked his age he has never told anyone, and he never celebrates birthdays, so his parents have actually forgotten his age. Of course he remembers it, because he has a very calculating mind he thinks things though before doing them and he has only acted on impulse once (when he ran away).

History; Marlin was born in Timiºoara, Timiº, Romania to two loving parents who despite his constant hospital visits, because he was almost always sick. His parents were successful businessmen in Timiºoara and so he lived in a life of luxury, he was tutored Romanian, while his first language was German, and when he was 20 he began to learn English. At age 8 his abilities developed and emerged when he was in a yelling match with his father about his parrot, he was holding the parrot at the time and when he became upset it began to age rapidly, eventually dying. When the vet told his parent that the bird had died of old age, when it was only two years old they became worried. Eventually after Marlin killed several gold fish, caused cocoons to open with butterflies that died all withered and grey and caused a sapling to grow two feet in a day his parents called in the church. The priest came the next day and preformed an exorcism on Marlin in the precedent that it would remove a demon within him that was causing him to age things. Marlin resisted as much as he could as the priest restrained him with the aid of his parents, then began to chant. At first Marlin thought that he was in fact possessed and this would help him, but he was a scared 8 year old and he soon became terrified screaming and crying, and finally at the point when the priest began to sprinkle “holy” blood on him and then cut him so that his blood could leak out and release the demon within he passed out. This caused him to have irrational fears of both blood and exorcisms. After this his parents began to accept that it wasn’t something that was wrong with him and he was just different. When he began dying his hair blue and black at age 16 his parents gave him the nickname Vlad, after Vlad II, the inspiration for Dracula. He was hurt by this but he new that his parents meant well so he tolerated it and eventually grew to like it. He continued to live in his parents mansion in solitude other than them until he was nearly 20 and he ran away from home, three months later he returned with a ferret who he insisted on calling Gandhi. After that he stayed with his parents at the mansion till he was 35 and his parents insisted that he go somewhere to get control of his powers this was a shock to him, because despite his actual age he looked acted and was treated like he was 16, and his parents had been fine with his powers for nearly 30 years. What he didn’t know is that his presence was aging them and they knew it, so in hopes of being there for him in the future they were sending him to Bayville to the Institute to learn control.

Power; Marlin posses the ability to age things, living and non living. This ability is a huge strain on him and is constantly making him pass out, but he does it without meaning to with skin contact. He is limited, because he can only age living things slowly, so if he is putting all his power in he could cause someone (animal or human) to age about 7 years, but he would immediately pass out. Non living things on the other hand cause him little pain when he ages them, and he is capable of aging them years at a time with no strain. The impact of his ability on him has caused him to age slowly, and he can even slow his aging by aging other, but he isn’t aware of this now. When holding his ability back and having skin contact with a living thing he can prevent himself from ageing them too much, and they will only age a day or two every minuet.
