personality;; Overall, he’s a very nice guy. You’d expect him to be all emo and depressed after the death of his parents and the accident his friend had, but he isn’t. Sure, he misses them and would love to see them all again, if only for a minute, but he knows he can’t. Instead, he loves to tell stories of his parents or lessons they taught him in his childhood. Though because of all the pain he’s suffered through these car accidents, it’s had a permanent effect on him. It’s made him scared of cemeteries, accidents, and alcohol. For a while he was scared of riding in a car, but he got over this fear with time.
history;; He had a normal childhood complete with supportive parents, good grades, and a pretty large house. When it came to sports, he was always the one to beat.
He was 15 when his powers manifested. He was home alone reading one sunny afternoon when he received a phone call from his dad at work that his best friend had been in a car accident and was currently in the emergency room at the hospital.
He hung up the phone with his dad and blinked. When he opened his eyes he was standing outside the hospital doors. He wasn’t sure how he got there, but he was too worried about his friend to care. He argued with several nurses and doctors until finally someone was able to tell him his friend was in stable condition and would be alright.
Needing to calm down, he headed into the bathroom and turned on the sink to splash water on his face. He blinked and was back in his room, except he was lying on the floor.
He didn’t understand what was happening, but for the next few days he had similar instances. He eventually realized that it wasn’t a normal thing and after much research he came to the conclusion he was a mutant with the power of teleportation.
One day when he was home alone again, and he decided he’d test his power out. Standing in his family room, he thought about his bedroom and blinked. He was standing in his bedroom. He ran down the stairs, wanting to try it again, when he saw himself lying on the floor of the family room. He didn’t understand, and it took him a moment to realize that his mutation wasn’t teleportation, but it was astral projection.
He told his parents as soon as they got home, and to his pleasure, they seemed proud that he was a mutant.
A few weeks later Matt’s parents were killed in a car accident when a drunk driver hit them off the road. This new tragedy in his life triggered a new set of powers, telekinesis. However, unlike last time, he didn’t feel like experimenting with it.
Arrangements were made for his aunt and uncle to come and look after him and make plans for the funeral. This had been the arrangement for about a week when he found on the internet, a website for a place called “Xavier’s Institute for Gifted Youngsters.” Although to most people, it would just sound like a school for smart kids, Matt had a feeling it wasn’t just that.
He spent the next week convincing his aunt and uncle that he had to go to the United States and go to this Xavier School. With the loss of his parents, he didn’t want to stay at this house, and he wanted to be around people who were like him.
Obviously, his aunt and uncle didn’t think it was such a good idea for him to go jetting off just a week after the death of his parents, but with time, he was able to convince them otherwise.
The day after his parents funeral, he left Scotland and headed to Xavier’s school. He was nervous about going to the school at first. What if it wasn’t for mutants? He took a chance and went to the school and much to his pleasure, it was for mutants. He got enrolled and has been living there ever since.
