Nick had anticipated this, so he twirled the key around his finger, while regarding Taki with a neutral face. Well we can't let you go free. You know too much about the Corporation. That would make you valuable to the X-Men and mutant haters.
He clutched the key in his hand and stood up so he could leaned back over the desk. So you have three options. Death, going back to the life of a slave which you hate so much you came here, to me, asking for a resolution and I am providing it. Your third option, join the Corporation as a full time member.
He sat back down. And I assure you, the Dark Angel agrees with everything I do. If you cannot decide and wish to speak to him, he will only offer the same alternatives. Though he will be less patient then I am with you now because I will inform him of the fact I've already been through this with you.

Taki slowly sank back into his chair and closed his eyes. He wasn't sure what he had expected out of this meeting but he didn't want to be a Corporation member. That could turn out worse for him in the end. And he didn't want to die just yet.
If there is no compromise avalible to me, I will not become a member of this damn place. I just can't. I'm sorry to have bothered you today Sir, but thank you for your time. Taki stood up and bowed at the waist respectfully. I guess I better go clean something. he added with a dead look in his eyes as he waited for Nick to give him permission to leave or say something else.

Nick had to hold back the growl that threatened to escape him and he gave Taki a fierce stare. Sit down! You will leave when I tell you to.
Nick watched Taki for a moment. Taki was not impressed with any of the current outcomes that Nick could tell, but he hadn't really expected any differently. Now if you have a better solution to your problem then you better say it now. Otherwise I don't want to hear you complaining anymore.

Taki sat back down slowly. Although he had never been good at hiding his emotions, the only ones he really had in response to the Archangels were submission, sadness, and pain. This was the first time Taki had ever had defiance in his eyes as he faced Nick and his opals were certainly blazing with it.
If you really want to hear it sir, I'll tell you. The new captives always seem to learn from me. Whether its what to do or how to do it, they talk to me about it. I've been here longer than alot of people and I deserve to be recognized for that. Could there not be some sort of middle between captive and member? I know Cymir is the DA's pet... is there some sort of version of that possible? He spoke boldly, figuring there really wasn't a downside to being honest at the moment.

Nick tilted his chair back until it was directly on its back legs. He sat like that for a bit, just staring at Taki, then let his chair fall back forward. It's what he did when he was thinking. An unusual habit, but hey, it helped him think.
Yes, but Cymir is a child. He doesn't understand what is going on, and his powers aren't fully developed. You on the other hand, are not a child. He said this all in a neutral tone, the anger having gone, but he wasn't nice either. Though if you thought about it, his tone was never nice, so this wasn't a surprise.
You should be willing to serve the Dark Angel in any way possible, even in combat, but fine if you insist. You are a tracker aren't you? He already knew the answer, but he might as well ask him.

Taki had to feel a little ashamed that he had compared himself to a child, but was also pleased Nick didn't think them at the same level.
He wasn't sure what Nick was thinking but Taki nodded. Yes, I'm a tracker and a pathfinder. He didn't bother to add more, knowing Nick had something on his mind already.

Nick smirked. Fine then. You will be the Dark Angel's official tracker. If he ever needs to find someone, you will help him in every way possible, whether you want to or not. Since you do not want to be a full time member, this will be your new position. You still have to listen to everyone else cause they are above you, but the beating should cease.
The key he had been holding throughout the conversation was tossed in Taki's direction. You will never leave the Corporation without an escort, but you have your own room now. Beside Jace. He knew how much that would infuriate Jace, but he wanted to see how this would play out.

Taki's eyes widened in surprise. He had not expected such generosity from Nick and presumed it wouldn't happen again any time soon. This was a wonderful resolution. He didn't have to be a part of the Corporation and he didn't have to sleep in the dungeon anymore.
Taki stood up quickly and caught the key before it hit him in the face. Thank you, sir. This is better than I could have hoped for and I will not make you regret this. Am I excused? He asked this time, remembering his place. Although he was concerned about living beside Jace from now on, he wouldn't let it affect his appreciation and happiness. Not right now anyway.

Nick watched as Taki's gratitude spilled out and he got up, a look on his face that made Nick feel sick. Taki was happy. Happiness was something Nick could not wrap his head around. Why get so excited over something so little? He wouldn't be so happy or excited about it later and everything would fall into a normal routine.
Taki asked is he was excused and Nick forced himself out of his little day dream. Yes. Yes, of course. Just stop sucking up and get out of here. I'm busy. He raised his arm and waved it towards the door, gesturing for Taki to get out. And don't forget to close the door!

Taki nodded his head and walked out the door, relieved to be out of that room. He had also gained a little hope, something he had never really believed in since it always failed him in the end. With a shake of his head at his good fortune, Taki firmly shut the door, enjoying the sound of this meeting closing for good.
